What is a JMB Sign?

Each JMB Sign is made in our own shop here in Pennsylvania. The signs are designed to hang on your wall but many people display them on their desks or in a case. In a nutshell, here is how each sign is made…

The first step in making a sign is printing the image. In doing so, we use only the highest quality inks and papers to ensure a quality image. The backing for each sign is made of durable, half inch ultra light mdf. However, prior to adhering the image to the wood, a protective coating is applied to each image. This coating serves two purposes by giving the image a high gloss finish but also providing a protective covering to the image. After that, we adhere the image to the wood using an industrial strength adhesive inside our heat, vacuum press. The press heats the adhesive and signs to 185 degrees while applying 20lbs of pressure thereby ensuring a permanent bond. Once it's adhered to the wood, the sign is cut and then sanded back to its original shape. The final step is to cut out the key hole notch on the back so the sign may be hung.
